জাগো তুমি জাগো - Jago tumi jago (With Meaning & English Translation)

 জাগো তুমি জাগো - Jago tumi jago

পঙ্কজ কুমার মল্লিকের সুরে এবং দ্বিজেন মুখোপাধ্যায়ের কণ্ঠে গাওয়া এই গানটি আসলে মায়ের কাছে এক ব্যাকুল প্রার্থনা। এখানে দেবীকে শুধু অসুর বধ করার জন্য ডাকা হচ্ছে না; বরং মানুষের মনের ভেতরের ভয়, দুর্বলতা এবং অশুভ শক্তিরূপী 'রিপু' (যেমন- কাম, ক্রোধ, লোভ)-কে দমন করে শুভ বুদ্ধি ও সাহসের আলো ছড়ানোর জন্য তাঁকে জাগ্রত হতে অনুরোধ করা হচ্ছে।

    <MEANING>
    হে মা দুর্গা, তুমি জাগ্রত হও! তুমি কৃপা করে জেগে ওঠো। তুমি দশটি হাতে দশটি ভিন্ন অস্ত্র ধারণকারী দেবী (দশপ্রহরণধারিণী), তুমি তোমার সেই মহাশক্তিশালী রূপ নিয়ে আবির্ভূত হও।
    তুমি আমাদের সমস্ত ভয় দূর করে অভয় দান করো (অভয়া), তুমিই সকল শক্তির উৎস এবং আমাদের ভেতরের মানসিক ও শারীরিক বল প্রদান করো। হে মা, তুমি জেগে ওঠো।
    যিনি ভক্তদের কাঙ্ক্ষিত বর দান করেন (বরদা), যাঁর মহিমা ও অবস্থান চিরস্থায়ী বা স্থির (অচলা) এবং যাঁর কোনো তুলনা হয় না (অতুলা)—আমি সেই মা দুর্গাকে প্রণাম জানাই।
    যিনি নিজের বাহুতে অসীম বল ও শক্তি ধারণ করেন এবং যিনি সমস্ত শত্রু বা অসুরের দলকে বিনাশ ও দমন করেন (রিপুদলবারিণী)।
    তুমিই সর্ববিজয়ী জয়া; তুমি মাটির মূর্তিতে প্রতিভাত মৃন্ময়ী; তুমিই চণ্ডাসুর বধকারী ভয়ংকরী চণ্ডীকা এবং কল্যাণময় শিবের ঘরণী শঙ্করী। হে মা, তুমি জাগ্রত হও।
    হে অসুরদের এবং জগতের সমস্ত অশুভ শক্তিকে ধ্বংসকারী দেবী, তুমি কৃপা করে জাগ্রত হও।

    ENGLISH MEANING
    This song is a soul-stirring invocation to Goddess Durga, pleading with her to awaken and bless the earth with her divine presence. It highlights her dual nature—as a fierce destroyer of evil and a compassionate protector of her devotees.
    • The Awakening: The devotee repeatedly calls upon Mother Durga to awaken ("Jago") and manifest in her magnificent form holding ten weapons ("Dasha Praharana Dharini").
    • Giver of Strength: She is addressed as the one who removes all fears ("Abhaya") and gives immense spiritual and physical strength ("Balo Pradayini").
    • The Supreme Attributes: The song offers salutations to her as the giver of boons ("Barada"), the immovable and eternal truth ("Achala"), and the one who has no parallel or comparison ("Atula").
    • Destroyer of Evil: She is praised for her immense physical power and her ability to crush enemies and inner vices ("Ripudalabarini"), as well as annihilating demons ("Asuro Binashini").
    • Her Many Forms: The lyrics beautifully salute her various aspects: Jaya (the victorious), Mrinmoyee (the one manifested in an earthen idol), Chandika (the fierce warrior), and Shankari (the auspicious consort of Shiva).
    In short, it is a prayer asking the Mother to destroy the darkness of the world and our inner fears, and to bring light, courage, and life to the earth.
